Vincent M. Giordano, M.GISc.
Biography
I was born in Glendale, Queens, in 1999 and grew up on Long Island where I completed both secondary school and my undergraduate studies. I currently reside in New York City.

Education
I completed my undergraduate degree in economics with a minor in mathematics at Long Island University, graduating in May 2021. I then received my Master of Geographic Information Science (M.GISc.) from Kent State University in May 2023 with training in cartography, land change analysis, and quantitative methods.
Employment
I am currently employed as an economist with the New York City Council (NYCC), where I specialize in macroeconomic and tax revenue forecasting. I have cultivated expertise in the Sales Tax and Hotel Room Occupancy Tax and their respective interactions with retail and hospitality employment.

Prior to the Council, I worked as an urban planner and Zoning Map Specialist for the New York City Department of City Planning's (DCP) Staten Island Borough Office. In this role, I developed extensive knowledge of local zoning ordinances, climate resiliency policies, and prudent planning practices. I was the Borough Office's ad hoc geospatial analyst and was responsible for all statistical and GIS work needed for neighborhood studies.

My first full-time research position was as a Trauma Data Analyst for Richmond University Medical Center (RUMC), where I was tasked with analyzing trauma patient outcomes, preparing reports and charts for high-level executive meetings, and representing the RUMC Trauma Department at local and regional trauma conferences. I was then promoted to the role of Trauma Statistician and was responsible for conducting all statistical analysis related to RUMC's trauma research program. In my time at RUMC, I co-authored two peer-reviewed and PubMed-indexed research papers and authored a public health research paper shortly after my departure from RUMC.
